The
Enneagram is a powerful tool for Therapeutic Coaches to add
to their tool bag. By learning to identify the Enneagram
story that is our clients map, we, as Therapeutic
Coaches, can apply our NLP and Hypnosis techniques quickly and
effectively. We know from NLP that to be the most effective
Therapeutic Coach, we must be attentive to the language of our
client. The Enneagram can function as a tool to help us understand
the map and the language of our client to be efficient
and effective in our interventions. NLP techniques can be chosen
based on their effectiveness with the various types, thus simplifying
the decision of how to best intervene with clients. The Enneagram
can be used as a framework for discussing relationships, spirituality,
work and parenting, providing a structure for our clients to
understand the roles that they play. It also provides a method
to free up possibilities, build on strengths and create flexibility.
This tool is a perfect fit with our TC quadrants, focusing on
the what and what ifs of the problem, not
the why. Each of the nine types has a basic theme, and characteristics
of deleting, generalizing and distorting experiences in a ways
that are based on similar underlying basic beliefs regarding
what is true about the world.
The
Enneagram is a useful tool for TCs who work in business,
personal and professional coaching. It is both playful and profound
when working with relationships of all types: couples, parenting,
friendship and professional. Values, differences, strengths
and points of growth can all be examined within its circle of
wholeness and interconnection. Those who are seekers of Spirituality,
Essence and /or Higher Consciousness will recognize the Enneagram
as a multifaceted and profound tool of discovery and self-development.
For
Therapeutic Coaches, the study of the Enneagram enhances every
aspect of their practice, a beautiful, versatile tool for both
personal and client growth.
